FAQS

There are always a lot of ‘what-if’, ‘can I’, and ‘do we know’ questions. Here are the answers to a few that we’re aware of. Check back often to see any additional ones.

  • Question: Can I bring my dog?

Answer: Yes, HOWEVER, they must remain on leash or in crate at all times. This is for THEIR safety as there are other dogs and wild animals around as well as lots of fun places to explore and get lost. AND, the owner assumes all responsibility for any damages or costs associated with clean-up. Owner also agrees to pick up all waste (poop) and dispose of properly.

  • Question: What is the food situation?

Answer: Participants are expected to provide their own Friday evening picnic-style dinner (no kitchen available). Saturday breakfast, Saturday snacks, Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast are included. You will NOT go hungry. You may bring your own food, but please make sure that all scraps are disposed of properly. We do have wild animals in the area, so encourage all food to be kept in buildings or in cars, especially overnight. NO FOOD IN TENTS!

  • Question: Is there WiFi?

Answer: Yes, HOWEVER, it can be spotty. And, we encourage all participants to unplug as much as possible. This is especially important for our younger crowd. It’s important for them to realize the beauty and bounty in the nature that God has provided us with. It is more important on this trip to stay connected to the pine trees and lake than it is to ‘reach the next level’.

  • Question: Can we have a fire?

Answer: That will depend. The fire bans change daily and as we see all too often in Colorado, even a small fire can get out of hand. If this question arises while we are at camp, we will look into it then.

  • Question: Do I HAVE to participate in the activities?

Answer: No, but we do highly encourage you to do something to enjoy GVR, the mountains, each other, and most importantly, the Sabbath.

  • Question: Am I required to attend all group functions?

Answer: No, but it will make us sad and you’ll be missing out on real blessings. A lot of time and energy goes into making this a very special Sabbath and event for everyone. Come see and hear what God has in store for you this weekend.

  • Question: Do I have to participate in clean-up?

Answer: Emphatically YES! If everyone pitches in, things get done a lot faster. Even a 2-year-old can help pick up trash or other small task. All participants will be assigned a series of tasks based on when you’ll be there - yes, even the daytime-only participants have a job.

  • Question: What are my charges? What does this cost?

Answer: Whatever you decide. We, as a church, are charged approximately $5000 for the location and all the food. So, any and all donations are appreciated. Please just leave it in the tithe box marked ‘campout’.
