Time to Pray

When was the last time you got together with a group of people and prayed?  I'm not talking about your immediate family, but a group called your church.  Something incredible happens when a group prays.  It's not a formula for getting what we want from God.  Nor do we score brownie points with God for praying.  But when we pray together, something powerful happens to us!  We become changed.  We become more tuned in to God's perspective and plans with this world.  When we pray together, we become united in the cause of our life - to harvest those who know not Christ.

Jesus told his followers:  "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields."  Luke 10:2  Jesus reminds us that the purpose of the church is to work the fields for the harvest.  Yet the workers are few.  So what do we do as a result - we pray!  We pray to the One in charge of the harvest and ask Him to convict hearts to join the saved.  We pray to God to understand His plans for how to reach our community for Him.  We pray to understand His plans for the harvest here in northern Colorado.

We have selected this Sabbath, January 21st, for a special lunch potluck followed by an hour or so of collective prayer.  We want to pray for more workers.  We want to pray for God's plans for 2012.  Won't you join us?  Even if you pray silently, God hears your prayers, so come and join us.  Let's come together and pray!  You will be blessed, but more importantly, our community will be better harvested, as we sense God's leading as a result of our prayers.

Our time of prayer will be immediately after the worship service.  Bring a dish to share and then let's pray together.  The prayers of a righteous (group) are powerful and effective. James 5:26
