Tebowing

Have you seen him do it - take a knee and offer an unabashed prayer to his God?  Tim Tebow has got the city of Denver, the NFL, and a nation getting more and more curious about a guy who openly prays on and off the football field.  It's resulted in a new word being coined called "Tebowing."  To make the story even more interesting, he's 6 and 1 as a rookie quarterback for the Denver Broncos, bringing his team from the precipice of a losing season to the prospects of division winner and play-off contender.

Is God honoring a man who has been honoring Him? Could it be that God is blessing Tebow and his team not so they can win some inconsequential games (in the big scheme of life), but in the greater perspective, get a lot of people's attention for the sake of God?  Could it be that perhaps Tebow's witness as an unabashed, no holds barred, Christ follower, is a double witness of God's power.  A witness to those who have dismissed God and a witness to those who claim to be Christian but are ashamed to let their light shine.  What if God is blessing Tebow on the football stage so that Jesus Christ attracts more followers to Him?  Jesus said, "And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will attract all people toward Me" John 12:32.

Only the Lord knows the heart of Tebow - and whether he is only calling upon God to simply win games.  But what if the Lord sees a young man who simply loves Him (win or lose) with all of his heart, mind and soul?  If so, why wouldn't God respond with an extra measure of His blessings?  And what about you and me?  Are we will willing to be sold-out, fully devoted followers of Christ, willing to love Him and witness for Him with all our might, on whatever stage we are placed upon?  When you consider we are living in the final two minutes of earth's history, could the stakes be any higher?  "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
