Party Time!

Jesus once told his disciples, "The harvest is great, but the workers are few."  Luke 10:2   Could it be that Jesus was right?  We live in a world where people are actually starving to know the Truth and yet few are willing to share it?

Have you had a chance to think and begin planning your Matthew party?  Last Sabbath we talked about an easy and comfortable way to be 'salt' and 'light' in our community.  And that is to hold a party at your home or at the park with your Adventist and non-Adventist friends.  It's called a Matthew party, patterned after one of Jesus' disciples.  Matthew threw a big party for Jesus and invited his tax collector friends and other non-believers. Matthew was letting his light shine.

The result of a Matthew party is to get better acquainted  with your neighbors, co-workers, and social contacts, while surrounding them with other Christian friends.  And, a Matthew-styled party allows you to share your faith naturally, allowing God's spirit to guide the conversations.  It's a place where potential seeds can be planted.  It's a place where friendships can be rooted, and meaningful conversation can take place.

How do you plan a Matthew Party?  Follow these simple steps:
1.  Get with other Adventist friends and determine a place and date.
2.  Prayerfully decide who to invite - non-Adventist friends, neighbors and coworkers.
3.  Prayerfully make the invitations to come for some food and friendship.
4.  Keep praying in the days before the party.
5.  During the party, invite God's Spirit to mingle and guide the conversations.

The results will be amazing!  Why?  Because the Bible says our witness for Christ is powerful under God's Spirit.  "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere - in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."  Acts 1:8

So, under God's directive Spirit, let's set those party dates and mingle with the people of northern Colorado!  And who knows but God what kind of eternal difference it will make.
