John 3:16

His favorite Bible text is John 3:16 and he faithfully wrote that under his eyes as a college football quarterback.  Now as a Bronco player, he just wears his faith on the football field.  And was it just coincidental, or did we see 316 show up in more ways than one in last week's football game between the Broncos and the Steelers?  Let's see, Tim Tebow throws for 316 yards; Tebow averages 31.6 yards per pass; And the Broncos-Steelers Overtime game scored a television rating of 31.6 percent.

Secular sports talk analysts say it's all just a fluke for the Broncos - including the 316 overtures, the 7 come from behind and overtime victories this season, winning the division with a 500 record, and winning a playoff game that no one thought was possible.  It all adds up to Tim Tebow being the most popular story of the week in American news and pop culture, and all the while, John 3:16 keep's being mentioned.  Millions are not only curiously baffled at Tebow's performance this year, they are equally mystified by his faith in always giving Jesus Christ the glory.  The result is many viewing Christianity in a new light and Jesus Christ being talked about in fresh ways!

Does God really care if the Broncos go on to defeat the New England Patriots this week?  Is God cheering for the Broncos to go all the way and win the Super Bowl?  Of course not!  But when God and His son, Jesus, are being talked about in an ever-increasing secular world, that's a good thing!  And I believe we need to be talking more about our Lord - at every opportunity, for He is the Living God who is coming soon!  "And I tell you, whoever declares openly [speaking out freely] and confesses that he is My worshiper and acknowledges Me before men, the Son of Man also will declare and confess and acknowledge him before the angels of God."  Luke 12:8 AMP
